BeelzeBrat explains life in her own terms...
BeelzeBrat's Motto:
LIVE ON INSTINCT
I think that people take life way too seriously and make it much more complicated than it really is. Life is meant to be enjoyed...most people are so busy running around trying to make money, influence others, and get ahead that they don't stop long enough to enjoy life. I think people have been way too noisy with other people's lives during the last century instead of practicing tolerance and understanding. People worry if their neighbor is homosexual, having an abortion or having children out of wedlock (among other things...) when it isn't any of their business or concern whatsoever. So they get worked up about something that isn't any of their business in the first place, but because they don't like it, get bills passed (or try to) against it. We have turned from a society of "live and let live" to "Live and let live...as long as it's the life I choose for you." I feel like this -- if you don't like abortion (or whatever else your neighbor may be doing) DON'T DO IT...but that doesn't mean that you are some kind of all powerful being that can make choices in other people's lives....that's for them to decide...not you!
As long as I've already brought up abortion then I guess I will talk about that while we're here. Just to set the record straight I am NOT pro-abortion...I am pro-choice (yes there is a difference). I would not consider an abortion for myself (unless there was something very very very wrong with my baby and they'd be born a vegetable or something like that), but I'm not going to refuse another woman the choice. Now onto what I like and don't like...Abortion is a fine decision for some women...I am not in their shoes at the time of their decision so I can't say what I would or wouldn't do if I were them. I don't, however, like people who use abortion as a form of birth control. In this day and age there are many many birth control options available to women (as well as to men) so there should be no excuse for a "birth control" abortion. I have a lot of respect for women who chose adoption as a way to deal with an unwanted/ unaffordable pregnancy. I was adopted as a child (at 8 weeks of age) so maybe this has something to do with my respect for them. It takes a lot of guts and selflessness to carry a child for 9 months, grow attached to them, go through a long and painful birthing process, and then give them to another family to raise. It takes a person who really loves their child to (not that people who keep their children love them any less) realize what's best for their child and not what's best for them.
Okay...onto another controversial topic...interracial dating/marriages/children! I am so sick of people saying they're colorblind and then, in the next breath, saying "but if my daughter ever dated one I'd disown her!". You're either colorblind or your not. I understand that some people have been brought up in a different era and in different communities so their views on the subject may be slanted. But this isn't about their opinions...it's about MINE. If you raise you're children to be colorblind and non-racist...then you have to accept that they may also date, marry, and have children with someone outside their race. It goes with the territory. Some people claim to be racist because they grew up in a community where all the "other race" people they met were bad in some way or another. But they fail to realize that a few do not make the whole. Just because you've met a dozen people of another race and didn't like them for some reason or another doesn't mean that the entire race of people are bad. There is good and bad in ever race....Caucasian included!!!
People should be judged on what they know and not so much how they look. I can understand that in corporate america you can't go around in dirty ripped jeans and a stained smelly t-shirt and expect anyone to take you seriously. But that by no way means that just because you may be wearing jeans that the guy wearing a suit has any more knowledge about a certain topic than you do. If you've ever been interviewed for a technical position by a human resourses employee (who isn't technical at all) then you know what I mean. Any ape in an Armoni can get by human resourses because they've got the look -- that doesn't mean they have the intellect. I've interviewed for a lot of technical positions in my career and I don't think they should go through human resourses first and, if they do, the person interviewing should have the required technical knowledge to weed them out properly. I understand that when meeting with clients and such that you need to make an impression...why can't that impression be what you know and what you can do for the client more than how you look. Anyhow can go buy an expensive outfit and have that look of intelligence and honesty and quality. Underneath all the glitz there may be nothing there.
